Inboard cooling system
Marine Boat Shop, a specialist in nautical equipment for inboard engine parts, offers a selection of heat exchangers for inboard engines. These components are essential to the marine cooling system. They transfer heat between the engine’s coolant and the surrounding seawater or freshwater. This process helps maintain an optimal temperature for engine operation, preventing overheating and extending its lifespan. Designed for brands such as Mercruiser, Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Perkins, and Ford, these heat exchangers ensure reliable and durable performance
There is 1 product.
Inboard cooling systems are essential for the proper functioning of marine engines. They ensure that the engine operates at optimal temperatures by dissipating heat generated during operation. There are two main types of cooling systems for inboard engines:
-
Closed-loop cooling system: This system uses coolant (typically antifreeze) that circulates through the engine, cooling it. The coolant is then cooled by a heat exchanger, which transfers the heat to the surrounding water, ensuring that the engine temperature remains stable. This type of system is commonly used in colder climates because it prevents seawater from coming into direct contact with the engine.
-
Raw water cooling system: In this system, seawater is drawn in through the intake and passed directly through the engine to cool it. After circulating through the engine, the water is expelled back into the sea. While this system is simple and cost-effective, it can be prone to corrosion due to the presence of saltwater.
Both systems require regular maintenance to ensure they are functioning properly, such as checking for leaks, cleaning strainers, and ensuring the water pump is in good condition.
