Warnings and alarms

Sound Type and Volume:

• Onboard sound alarms must emit a loud and clear signal, typically above 85 dB, to be heard throughout the boat, even amidst ambient noise.
• The sound can be continuous or pulsed, depending on the type of emergency. For instance, an intermittent beep may indicate a minor issue, while a continuous sound is often associated with a major emergency.

• Combined Alarms: Some systems pair sound alarms with visual indicators for more effective signaling.
• Redundant Alarm Systems: On larger vessels, multiple alarms can be installed in different areas to ensure they are heard everywhere.
